Who does not adore the beach? The sensation of sand in between your feet, the scent of salt carried on the wind and the rumble of the waves colliding on shore is unbeatable. Not all beaches are equal, however. There are good ones and there are excellent ones.
Below is the list of beaches that must be included on your bucket list.
1. Source d’Argent – Seychelles

On one of the 115 islands comprising the Seychelles there is a beach on a sheltered cove with pink colored sand that greets stunning blue ocean.
Hanging over the beach are enormous granite boulders that only add to how photo perfect this destination is. Frequently voted as world’s best beach, this must be your top priority when searching for fantastic beaches.
2. Glass Beach – USA

A beach composed entirely of junk thrown away might sound revolting, and usually is, but not this one.
Composed of the leftovers of trash that was dumped into the ocean in the 20th century, all of the pottery and glass that was discarded were worn smooth by waves and deposited on shore. You’re not allowed to pilfer any of this “trash”, but that doesn’t indicate that you can’t appreciate it.
3. Playa del Amor – Mexico

Better known as the hidden beach, Playa del Amor is located in a zone once a testing ground for weapons. The beach lies in a crater which potentially was created by a bomb exploding.
It is unsafe to swim there because of the rocks close by and the strong waves, but it’s a beautiful spot with the extra added advantage of potentially even seeing a whale!
4. Greenfield Beach – Australia

Just a few hours from the very crowded Bondi Beach Sydney, Greenfield near much more popular Hyams beach, but doesn’t receive the attention that it so rightly deserves.
Don’t forget to bring your sunglasses as the sand here is eye-blindingly white. You’ll be trudging through a thick thicket of local eucalyptus one minute and then the next thing you know you’re standing on one of the best beaches in the world!
5. Praia da Salema – Portugal

The western coast of the Algarve wasn’t developed as rapidly as the remainder of the Portuguese southern coastline, and you’ll be glad of it on this beach.
Not only stunning in the color of its sand and water, you can look for fossilized dinosaur tracks on the limestone rocks, so there’s more to engage in than swim and get a tan over here.
6. Cala Gonone – Sardinia

The hardest thing about discovering an amazing beach in Sardinia is discovering one that doesn’t break the bank to stay close to, and that’s the checkbox that Cala Gonone marks.
At least as amazing as its pricier neighbors, Cala Gonone boasts a stunning sand and pebble beach that borders serene waters that are ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
7. Sunj – Croatia

It can be tough to find a sandy beach in Croatia as there are far more pebble beaches, but Sunj is thankfully one of the former.
With no real drop off in depth, its super safe for swimming, and with a large range of beach activities available you’ll never be bored here.
8. Ramla l-Hamza Gozo – Malta

The dark, ochre sand of this beach is what separates it from the pack. The way that the sand clashes with the vibrant blue of the ocean is stunning.
With some of the clearest water in the Mediterranean, don’t forget your snorkel! Even though there isn’t much in the way of toilets and showers, this is a beach that is well worth your time.
9. Praia da Fortaleza – Brazil

A very secluded beach on a car-free island, this one is a bit of a challenge to reach, but like they say, nothing worth while was ever simple!
Going on for miles and miles, this beach has areas suitable for everything from surfing, through swimming and hiking. There’s even an old sea fort if you venture far enough!
10. Amanohashidate – Japan

Kyoto is a busy city with lots of shrines, but there is a bridge to heaven there in the guise of a beach.
A two-mile long sandbar lined with pine trees, you can either stay on the beaten track and follow the path with the rest of the tourists or head off into the boonies to discover your own area of hidden beach. Both are great for some amazing views.
11. Grace Bay – Turks and Caicos Islands

The TripAdvisor world’s best beach, Grace Bay boasts unanimously stunningly white sand and some of the bluest water in the world.
It’s easy enough to find fantastic beaches on Turks and Caicos, but this one is the best.
12. Whitehaven Beach – Australia

Part of the Great Barrier Reef, Whitehaven Beach is powder white sand and rainforest green surrounding it.
It appears to be man-unspoiled in some areas, reachable only by boat, helicopter, and seaplane. It’s a journey back in time.
13. Navagio Beach – Greece

Ikonik beause of its legendary shipwreck, this cove has much more going for it than that.
With deep blue waters that photograph beautifully against the white sand and cliffs that are topped with greenery, this beach is a photographer’s paradise, and it’s not bad to swim there either!
14. Pig Beach – Bahamas

Generally to be referred to as a pig is not something to be desired, but that is the most welcoming aspect of this beach.
White sand and turquoise, clear water aside, this beach is so named because it has tropical pigs roaming about on it. The pigs are friendly, and no one is quite sure how they ended up there, but they are doing well.
15. Reynisfjara Beach – Iceland

It’s a very brave person that will be swimming at this beach because it’s so cold, but nothing beats it in the world.
Rather a long way from some of the beaches listed below, the massive basalt rocks, crashing waves that are a bit rough and black sand are lovely in a wild manner. The sea stacks that are out to sea contribute to the harshness of the environment, one that you will never forget.
