Travel to Dubai to See These Crazy Things

Dubai is one of the world’s most amazing destinations. All the gold, glamour and glitz make it somewhere unique, and it definitely needs to be on the list of any global traveller. More things of unimaginable awesomeness are in the pipeline in this oasis desert city, including the building worlds’ tallest at over 1km!

For now, below is a compilation of some of the wildest things you are able to see in Dubai.

1. The Burj Khalifa

There is only one building that can claim to be the world’s tallest building, and that is the Burj Khalifa. Standing at a height of 830m and a whopping 163 floors, there is simply nothing quite like it anywhere in the world. The next best in the running is a full 200m shorter!

You can even get a room in the hotel that the building accommodates, for a hefty price tag of course!

2. Go Skiing

Now you are able to ski in loads of various locations around the globe, but where else are you able to do it when the mercury is over 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit)?

Ski Dubai is an all-year-round indoor ski slope, so if you are able and want to ski or even just relax, then Ski Dubai is a definite must!

3. See “The World”

You can have a great look at the entire world from Dubai, at least a slightly smaller world.

This artificial archipelago of islands has been controversial in the past, but it’s back with vengeance. If you can’t spend a few million pounds to buy one of these islands, then the Lebanon island is public access.

4. Get some gold from the ATM

We’re all accustomed to going to the ATM to withdraw a few quid, but in Dubai you can withdraw gold instead of cash!

Located in the Palace Hotel, this ATM is a great symbol for all the over-the-top glitz and glamour that you’re inevitably going to experience in Dubai.

5. Get pulled over by a Lamborghini

With so many supercars in Dubai, the police had to think outside the box to be able to match the drivers who disregard the law.

With a collection of over 10 supercars such as a Lamborghini Aventador, Bugatti Veyron and a Bentley Continental GT, you might think twice about getting arrested!

6. Gold Cars

We don’t say cars painted gold, we say cars plated in gold.

This is the kind of staggering levels of disposable funds available to Dubai’s rich, that many of them pay to have their cars plated gold in order to demonstrate how wealthy they are.

I don’t know about you, but I’d be too afraid to leave one of those on the sidewalk!

7. Live in Luxury

If you have a little bit of spare cash, then why not treat yourself to a stay at the Burj Al Arab Hotel? Priced at 7 stars and over £1000 per night, you may need more than a little bit of spare change.

With a butler on every floor and a free gold plated iPad for you to use whilst staying there, there is simply no experience like it anywhere in the world.

8. Get an Uber, the Right Way

No doubt you’re accustomed to hailing an Uber and having a car such as a Toyota Camry pull up and pick you up and take you where you’re going. Not in Dubai.

You can book a helicopter via Uber Chopper in Dubai, so not only can you arrive at your destination in style, but you also get a fantastic bird’s eye view of one of the world’s greatest cities along with it!

9. Play golf in the desert

If you did golf in the middle of the desert you’d expect to be hitting out of the sand trap a lot, but there are 11 golf courses in Dubai that pop up out of the desert like a green oasis.

Interesting fact, the Emirates Golf Club consumed more than 1.3 billion litres of water to irrigate their course in 2013, less than half as much as they required in 2007 before water restrictions were implemented.

10. Go and watch the camel racing

It is not Royal Ascot, perhaps, but experience nonetheless. And what’s more is that people do not even race the camels, it is robots that hold the reins!

It was once the workshop of children who raced the camels, but not only was that unsafe, some of the children were slaves. Now that the government cracked down on the camel racing it is now the ideal location to observe how some of the traditions of Dubai come together with the global tech boom.

11. Sleep with the fishes

We don’t mean that in the way of a thinly veiled, mafia-style threat. You can actually overnight in an underwater suite at the Atlantis Hotel.

I mean sure, it’ll cost you several thousand pounds per night, but like everything in Dubai it’s over the top and extravagant beyond all belief.

12. Chill Out

If you feel like getting a break from the scorching desert sun, then why not visit the Chillout Bar, which is a bar constructed from ice.

They’ll provide you with a good, warm coat to wear for the length of your stay because at -6 degrees, you’ll certainly feel the cold winter.

13. Go Skydiving

Yes, you can do this nearly anywhere on the planet, but skydiving over Dubai provides one’s own bird’s-eye view of this magnificent city.

Your descent will be over the Palm Jumeirah, a second man-made group of islands forming an archipelago. So not only will you get to appreciate the natural landscape of the surrounding desert, but the creativity of human beings as well.

14. Go Four Wheel Driving

Go on a ride across the sand dunes on the outskirts of Dubai to see the desert up close.

Spend the night camping under the stars to live an authentic Bedouin experience which is still practiced by so many here. It is a good way to get away from all the glitz and glamour of a modern Dubai.

15. Eat Metres of Pizza

This one speaks for itself. Pizza, by the metre, can be eaten.

Back at the well-named restaurant “Pizza by the Metre”, stuff your face with a lengthy portion of everyone’s favorite Italian style food until you are full. Don’t panic if a metre is too large for you though, they are available in halves!
