From where to dine, what to dine, where to sleep, where to go visit, to festivals, weather, transport and communication, there’s an app that’s meant for your phone. Thankfully technology helps us live a stress-free existence, and because it is changing and becoming better day by day, we must keep you posted. So you require this information even if you’re an expert in travel affairs. More so, in case your passion for traveling is just beginning, I promise you by the end of this piece, you’ll be a pro too – an expert on your wanderlust. Without further ado, here are the 15 must-have travel apps that every traveler should have.

1/15. Wifi Map

Let’s begin with expos. What Wifi Map does is that it essentially searches Wifi passwords from Wifi networks nearby and make them available to enable you connect and enjoy internet access as a traveler. Sometimes, you just want to simply check your Whatsapp or email and you don’t have offline data. So rather than waiting to return to your hotel, or begin randomly searching for public Wifi networks, you can simply just use this awesome app. Its its guaranteed one of the best travel apps every traveler should own.

2/15. Google Translate

Quite simply, Google is your friend. In fact, Google provide some of the top travel apps that every tourist needs to have. Google Translate has revolutionized translation using their great new feature. It’s always been a hassle to attempt to translate a word using audio or take up time typing in the word. Now you simply choose a language, wear your camera and point or snap a picture, and let Google translate the rest – in real time!!!

3/15. Air BnB

Apps that saves you accommodation hassles are absolutely indispensable travel apps for any traveler. Accommodation is normally a hassle and really costly particularly if you will be staying in your travel destination for some time. Thankfully, Airbnb offers cheap alternatives and if you’re traveling in groups or as a family, then the Airbnb service is priceless.

4/15. Packpoint

Packing can be such a hassle. I, in particular, hate it. I’m always struggling with what I want and what I could possibly want, and between too much gear and too little gear. In the end, I have more gear than I want and still forgot some of the things I really needed. If you’re fed up with it, like me, I am here to inform you – No more! Packpoint is the most top-notch travel app – at least to me. After you pick your destination, date traveled, reason, other activities and duration of trip, this magic does the rest by compiling you a list of what you absolutely require. After the necessities, any additional baggage is your own choice! Don’t say you weren’t aided.

5/15. XE Currency

All international travel adventure entails money exchange most of the times. Rather than looking it up online, you may experiment with a reliable service that gives you the true rates. XE Currency offers currency equivalents of all currencies in real time. It’s faster and simpler than googling. More importantly, you’re properly informed so no money-changer can swindle you! XE Currency in my view is the best among travel currency apps.

6/15. Kayak

Kayak is a one stop tool with the attributes of a few of its travel application counterparts. It allows you to book and compare flights, accommodation, meals and it organizes information and tips from trusted travel blogs. Holding kayak in your hand allows you to kayak through difficult travel experiences and choices while you are able to monitor your bookings and other travel plans.

7/15. Dayuse

Between flights and unavoidable delays due to activities or events, you might want a location to rest for a few hours without having to pay the full cost of an entire night’s stay. But would you rather be in your taxi, driving from hotel to hotel, inquiring about whether they provide such services and charges, if applicable? That’s what this Dayuse application is for, so release your smartphone to save yourself some, money, time and stress. Dayuse will provide you with information on what hotels provide these types of deals which allow you to check in now and depart an hour later or whenever you wish to without paying a full night’s rate. You will be able to discover a few and compare prices on the basis of proximity or whatever the reason may be. Bottom line is – I would definitely recommend this app as a must-have among travel apps.

8/15. Uber

Really? Do I need to say this? Even though I am so popular, I would bet some of you haven’t used the uber service. Go ahead, go download an uber app immediately and see for yourself. Besides being the best of transportation travel apps, uber is appealing to me for so many reasons, it’s lower than the regular fare of taxis (anywhere globally). It’s so simple and freaking quick – your driver is at your door within literally 2 minutes! What’s fantastic is that you can pay with card or cash and there’s also the facility to tip if your driver blew your mind.

9/15. Hotel tonight

It’s incredibly awesome and praiseworthy when people make connections in order to serve others or provide solution to a real problem. Hotel tonight work closely with hotels who give them the best last minute discount deals on empty rooms so if you’re stuck – you’re not! This is essentially what travel apps are for, so what good is it, if your accommodation plans slipped at the very last minute and you’re confused with nowhere to turn? Thankfully, no crappy hotel for you! Get hotel tonight and explore the best rates from the best hotels at the very last minute.

10/15. Flighttrack Pro

Apart from booking, confirming, monitoring, and handling your flight, receive real time flight delay and cancellation information because of weather or any other reason. Flighttrack pro doesn’t wish to see anyone waste time and money in reaching the airport for nothing. Their coverage is extremely fabulous and extends to more than 3,000 airports and 1,400 airlines. They will alert the hell outta you! It’s truly one of the most wonderful necessity travel apps.

11/15. Tripit

TravelUpdate – BoardingArea

Tripit is indeed an extremely popular travel app. It is among the top travel apps due to its ‘secretarial’ feature. This app will organize your itineraries more efficiently than a human assistant. That means you saved dollars you would have otherwise spent on lugging around an extra human being and instead, you unleashed your smartphone. Tripit will take care of all the details of your flight, hotel, car rental, and other things you have input. It keeps your email in mind so at times, it will resubmit your itinerary without bothering you.

12/15. Google photos

What did I say about Google? Top travel apps? Well, here they are again with what I prefer to call ‘photo management 2.0’. While I must say, it’s sort of creepy, how can a computer program choose the best pictures out of all the many that I took? And what’s creepier? I agree that their selection is the best. Anyway, it does save some stress in some way and yes, it’s the most wonderful tool for keeping all your travel memories alive. It’ll arrange all your photos, pick the best ones and will even create a video slide out of them for you. It’ll arrange them properly in folders and won’t delete any including the ones not picked. What more? – They’re all (automatically) stored in cloud storage so good news for your phone storage.

13/15. Time Out

Where to go, where to go? The great bugging question when you travel to a new city, particularly if it’s a huge city with a lot of confusing choices. Of course, you’re not there to live, you simply want to be entertained and get out so you need to make fast decisions on the best spots. Time out will organize your local travel for you, leading you to the coolest places to get a feel for the life and culture of said city. They have a complete list of rad restaurants, bars, and even events, activities and other spots you have to go to. If you did not have social life, time out will create an extremely thrilling one for you and before you know it, you will feel like you’ve lived there your whole life. Even though it’s the best among local experience travel apps, sadly, only a handful of cities have access to this service. But don’t worry – they’re adding more cities with every passing moment.

14/15. Rebtel

Let’s not leave communication behind. Rather than wandering and hacking out whopping calls and internet use bills, just get rebtel. Rebtel is one of the top communication travel apps. They’re not free but they’re as cheap as $2 a month – now that’s actual savings! With minimal payments, you can call anyone, anywhere globally. No network issues – it’s smooth, simple and a less complicated way to travel and communicate.

15/15. Sit or Squat

MomStyle – WordPress.com

Yes, eventually you will need it. I mean you’re in a foreign new place, discovering the town and if you have to go, it will be embarrassing as well as health-damaging to sit where you must squat. That’s basically why sit or squat was created. It will cure your No 1 and No 2 issues as at when needed. It accomplishes this through a scan of a database of thousands of bathrooms and giving you a honest evaluation of ‘sit here’ or squat here’ bathrooms, along with where the nearest one is to you. I think that out of travel apps, this must be one of the most critical.
